Pace Through the Years
The Pace Story
Pace Car Rental was founded in May 2006 with a simple vision: to create a practical, affordable, and proudly South African vehicle rental company built around real people and real mobility needs.
By March 2015, Pace had reached 400 vehicles, followed by 1,000 vehicles in November 2016. In May 2019, the business reached a major milestone with a fleet of 2,000 vehicles.
That same year, Pace acquired Comet Car Rental, expanding into Cape Town and Gqeberha. Growth continued in 2021 with the acquisition of Pender Car Rental, strengthening the company’s presence in Pretoria.
Around this period, the brand also evolved from the original “Price Invader” identity into the modern Pace Car Rental brand known today.
In 2022, Pace acquired Earnacar and expanded into Kempton Park. In 2023, Pace opened its Umhlanga branch, bringing the brand into KwaZulu-Natal.
Between 2024 and 2025, Pace opened branches in Salt River, George, East London, Nelspruit, Parow, Roodepoort, and Newton Park.
Today, Pace Car Rental continues to grow as a homegrown South African car rental brand, helping people, families, and businesses keep moving.
Pace Turns 20 – R20/day Surprise Drop
To celebrate 20 years of Pace Car Rental, we’re dropping a limited number of surprise rental bookings for just R20 per day.
Think of it like a Golden Ticket. Random booking windows will open on selected days and times, and if you’re quick enough, you could unlock an incredible rental deal.
Promotional Terms and Conditions
- The promotion is offered by Pace Car Rental as part of its 20th birthday celebration campaign.
- The promotion is valid for qualifying bookings created between 18 May 2026 and 17 June 2026 during officially announced promotional booking windows only.
- Only bookings made via the Pace Car Rental booking widget (found at www.pacecarrental.co.za/book-now/).
- The R20 promotion is not applicable on phone call or walk-in bookings.
- Promotional booking windows will be announced via Pace Car Rental’s official social media platforms.
- The promotional “20th Anniversary Surprise Group” (group A1) will only appear on the booking widget during active promotional booking windows and may disappear once promotional inventory has been exhausted.
- There 560 rental days available for this promotion (20 vehicles for 28 days, with a maximum rental duration of 3 days per booking). The promotional rate will only be available on selected days, and the prevailing rate will apply for bookings thereafter.
- Eligible bookings are bookings:
- successfully created within an active promotional booking window;
- for a rental duration of 1-3 days only;
- meeting all standard Pace Car Rental verification and rental requirements;
- and complying with these terms and conditions, as well as our general terms and conditions.
- The promotional rate is R20 per rental day including VAT and applies to the base rental amount only.
- The promotional rate excludes:
- Super Cover;
- fuel;
- additional kilometres;
- one-way fees;
- delivery or collection fees;
- traffic fines;
- toll fees;
- optional extras;
- and any additional charges not specifically included in the promotional rate.
- Super Cover is optional and available at R20 per rental day.
- Rentals include 100 free km per rental day. Additional kilometres are charged at R3.70 per km.
- A refundable security deposit of R4,500 applies to all promotional bookings where Super Cover is selected. Where Super Cover is not taken, a refundable security deposit of R16,000 applies.
- A liability amount of R4,500 applies should Super Cover be selected. Where Super Cover is not taken, a liability amount of R16,000 applies.
- Vehicles allocated under the promotion are selected passenger vehicles only and are allocated randomly.
- Vehicle model, transmission type, colour, specification, and category are not guaranteed.
- Pace Car Rental reserves the right to substitute the allocated vehicle with a similar passenger vehicle subject to operational requirements and availability.
- Promotional bookings are limited to one eligible booking per person. Pace Car Rental reserves the right to cancel duplicate, fraudulent, suspicious, automated, reseller, or abusive bookings.
- Existing Pace Car Rental staff members and their immediate family members do not qualify for the promotion.
- Standard Pace Car Rental age, licence, verification, payment, and rental requirements apply.
- Bookings created outside an active promotional booking window will not qualify for the promotional rate.
- Rentals outside the promotional collection period of 18 May 2026 to 17 June 2026 will not qualify for the promotional rate.
- Bookings may be modified within the promotional campaign period, subject to availability and approval by Pace Car Rental.
- Where a rental duration is beyond the original 1-3 day promotional rental period, the remainder of the rental rate will be charged at the standard daily rate applicable to the allocated vehicle group.
- Promotional bookings are non-transferable.
- One-way rentals may be permitted subject to availability and applicable one-way fees.
- If a promotional booking cannot be fulfilled by Pace Car Rental for operational reasons, any payment successfully processed for the promotional booking will be refunded.
- Pace Car Rental reserves the right to refuse or cancel bookings where promotional inventory has been exhausted.
- Cancellation or no-show of a promotional booking will result in forfeiture of that promotional booking opportunity.
- Customers may attempt to book again during future promotional booking windows, subject to availability and eligibility.
- Vehicles booked under this promotion may not be used for unlawful purposes, commercial courier services, ride-hailing services, subletting, racing, or any prohibited usage outlined in Pace Car Rental’s standard terms and conditions.
- All standard Pace Car Rental terms and conditions apply in addition to these promotional Terms and Conditions.
- Pace Car Rental reserves the right to amend, suspend, or terminate the promotion at any time without prior notice where reasonably necessary for operational, legal, technical, or commercial reasons.
