Traffic Fines

Drivers are responsible for all traffic violations that occur during the rental period.

The following administration fees apply when fines are redirected to the renter:

• Traffic fine redirection fee: R350 per fine
• Warning administration fee: R50 per warning

Double Liability Conditions

In certain situations, double liability may apply. This means the renter may be responsible for a higher excess amount in the event of damage or loss.

This condition does not apply to insurance replacement rentals.

Double liability may apply in the following situations:

• Theft where the vehicle was parked on a public street
• All single-vehicle accidents
• Damage occurring under poor driving conditions such as adverse weather, gravel roads, potholes, or unsafe road conditions

Situations Where Waiver Cover Does Not Apply

Your damage or theft waiver cover may become void under the following circumstances:

• Driving faster than 60 km/h on gravel roads
• Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs that impair driving ability
• Undercarriage damage caused by improper driving conditions
• Failing to obey the rules of the road. Tracking and telematics reports may be used in accident investigations
• Failing to report an accident to Pace Car Rental and the police within 24 hours
• Failing to report vehicle theft to Pace Car Rental within one hour of becoming aware of the theft
• Rental extensions not paid in advance, which results in suspension of waiver cover
• An unauthorised driver operating the vehicle
• Failure to obtain full and accurate third-party details after an accident

Under Pace Car Rental’s Pay As You Go billing system, rental and mileage charges are billed based on actual usage. Advance payment is required to maintain waiver cover.

An overdue surcharge of R100 per day may apply. If the matter is handed to the risk department, a R610 administration fee will be charged.

Additional Drivers

Additional drivers may be added to your rental agreement if required.
