The Volkswagen Amarok is slowly, but surely becoming a great bakkie option with applications ranging from off-road to building and construction. As bakkie rental specialists in Johannesburg, we take a deeper look at the latest Volkswagen Amarok bakkie.
Although the Amarok is not nearly as popular in South Africa as the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu KB Series, their sales are gradually increasing.
Design and Interior
The VW Amarok is a well-designed bakkie with very little not to like about its looks. The square wheel arches are mainly, the rear tailgate is massive and the grille is what we have become familiar with Volkswagen.
The interior resembles a raised cross polo with high-quality soft touch plastic, a typical VW switchgear that thuds and feels just right.
The seats are comfortable with more than enough space for up to 5 people to travel comfortably. The interior features just basic specifications like climate control and decent sound, but other than that it is rather bare.
There is also no canopy window at the back, which can complicate communication with passengers travelling at the back.
Performance and Handling
The Amarok offers segment-leading suspension and chassis that is geared for a smooth and comfortable ride. It does not scuttle and shakes around corners like other diesel bakkies, with the usual jitters and vibrations we have come to expect from VW also a thing of the past.
The Volkswagen Amarok puts out 132kW and 400NM between 1500 – 2000 RPM Makes the Amarok suitable for a wide range of applications.
The VW Amarok is probably the most comfortable and best-looking bakkie available in South Africa, it has it’s cons, but overall we reckon that it is a very good value for money bakkie.
